As fate has it, everything is subject to break. Parts aren’t built to last forever and some parts are more fragile than others. Most of our home’s mechanical systems have electronic control modules (computers) that make them work. In the event of these failing you’d pay “out of pocket” without “Equipment Breakdown Coverage”.
According to Indiana Farmers Insurance “Equipment Breakdown” means a physical loss or damage to boilers, fired or unfired pressure vessels, vacuum vessels and pressure piping (some exclusions do apply). It also covers all mechanical, electrical, electronic and fiber optic equipment.
Here’s a list of typical household Items protected by Equipment Breakdown Coverage:
•Washers and dryers
•Computers
•Dishwashers
•Refrigerators and freezers
•Ovens and microwaves
•Garbage disposals
•Heat pumps
•Heating and air conditioning systems
•Electrical service panels
•Home security systems
•Water heaters
•Well water pumps
•Sump pumps
•Surround sound systems
•Swimming pool equipment
•Televisions
If you’ve ever had to buy any one of these items you know how expensive they can be. As a Trusted Insurance Advisor, it’s my job to make sure you have the coverage you need. I invite you to call or message me for a review of your homeowner’s policy.
