Backyard Insurance

With Memorial Day past us, Summer has unofficially began. This time of year, I find myself in my backyard most of my free time. Backyards are a great space to relax and spend time with things we enjoy and people we care about. Whether you play catch with the kids, do gardening or swim in your pool, if something would happen to your backyard you would want to be in a position to get it back in order.

You know that a homeowners’ policy covers your house but what about your swimming pool, “she shed” or “man cave” in the backyard? Most homeowners’ policies have some coverage that extends to structures like these, however there are limits. Finding out what those limits are and making sure that you have enough coverage in the event of a loss is a great reason to review your insurance program.

Here’s a list of some typical backyard items to consider coverage on.

·         Shed, work shop or any structure detached from your home. 

·         Swimming pool

·         Trampoline

·         Children’s play equipment

·         Fencing

·         Landscaping and trees
